Furtastic will have to be cancelled for 2020.
It has come to the very regrettable point that the Danish government has chosen to put a cap on gatherings, to 30-50 people until the end of August. Unfortunately that means that Furtastic, which is a 70 person gathering/event will not be allowed to continue this year.
It has been quite an ordeal for everyone as Covid-19 had taken away from all of us, and has been giving nothing back. Events, people and entire countries have ground to a complete standstill because of this virus, and it is with a very heavy heart that we are forced to do this. This would have been the 10th year of Furtastic, and my own last year as main chairman, and believe me when I say that I am sad beyond belief to have to cancel it. Venue, art, website and many many hours of planning has already gone into this year, and it is hard to come to the realisation that it isn’t even our choice to continue it or not.
With that said, Shiro and I will be standing ready to greet you all in 2021! Say happy birthday, once we’ve all had another one (some even two!) between now and then. So fret not, those of you who still cannot wait to be together again, and those new to the family. We will be seeing you again. Just not this year.
Since you all already have tickets for this year, we have a few different options on how to do things. Furtastic is a union of people with an interest, and as such there is no company or money other than the tickets that come in every year. Some money has already been spent on venue, artists have been paid, and Paypal takes a fee for every transaction. Furtastic is not a rich convention. We keep costs low, and keep a tight budget, to make sure the prices are as cheap as they can be, while the con is still as comfortable as possible under that price.
In a few weeks, we will send out a form for you to fill out. This will contain the options that I will be lining out below. I will try to explain every option and why we have chosen to give you these options.
1. Refund
You will be getting back 700 DKK of the original ticket, and 100% of Sponsor, Super Sponsor, T-shirt and room prices that you have paid. This is likely the hardest choice for everyone on staff. We want to give 100% back to each and every one of you, but some money has already been spent, that cannot be unspent. We want to make sure that even if everyone pick this option, it would be absolutely fair, and everyone can get the most of their money back that Furtastic possibly can.
2. Move ticket to 2021
Since Furtastic is running again, same theme and everything, next year, obviously we have the option to avoid the rush of the registration that was there this year, and make up for this year with a huge birthday party for everyone! This way, you will retain your ticket and any add on you have picked, and you’ll even be able to buy more add ons for next year if you want it!
3. Donation.
Furtastic always appreciate all and every one of our attendees, and donations are always loved a lot. It helps us make Furtastic better and it keeps us going to know that people love coming to the convention. Donating your ticket this year would be quite a gesture, but we absolutely understand that not everyone has the capital in these uncertain times. The best and only thing we can offer in this time, is to put your name on the website as a thank you.
